Is it
possible to return to the original meaning of Christmas?
Can this season once again be about giving of ourselves relationally?
What would be possible if we pooled our resources and truly gave to those
who have real needs?
We here at the Vineyard thought we would try and are inviting you to share
in this "advent conspiracy" with us.
For the next few months we will be preparing our hearts to give
relationally–vs- consumeristicly. Why give a gift that will be discarded
within a few weeks when we could give a gift that will last for a long
time. Instead of giving more stuff why not invest with our time and
presence into those we love. And then take the cash we usually spend on
those gifts and give to someone that is truly in need.
On Dec 21 at 9:00am during our Christmas service we will take the cash
that we would have usually spent on consumer driven gift giving and pool
them into one gift. 50% of this offering will go directly to the Shasta/Tehema
Aids Food Bank to buy groceries for HIV patients here in the north state.
25% will be sent directly to
Living Waters to fund water wells in different parts of Africa.
The remaining 25% will be sent to
Heifer International.
